Feel high as you breathe the cool air of Banaue. Highlight of the visit is a tour of the Banaue Rice Terraces. Dubbed as the "Eight Wonder of the World", the rice terraces start from the base of the mountain range and reach up to several thousands feet high. Made 2,000 years ago, the rice terraces manifest the engineering skill and ingenuity of the sturdy Ifugaos. Streams and springs found in the mountains were tapped and channeled into irrigation canals that run downhill through the rice terraces.
You can also stroll along the villages of Banaue. See Batad Village, which is about 16km northeast of Banaue. Its rice terraces are in the shape of an amphitheatre. The village has a beautiful waterfall with a natural swimming pool. If you don't enjoy hiking, visit Banga-an Village that is south of Batad. Here you can find more beautiful rice terraces. It is not far from the road and is easier to reach.
