MANILA DAY TOURS

Enjoy a really wonderful vacation in Manila, the Premiere City of the Philippines. Located at the west coast of the country's main island Luzon and surrounded by fertile plains, the city is most frequently visited by local and foreign tourists alike. The name Manila was taken from the words 'may' which means 'there is' and 'nilad,' a mangrove plant that grew on the banks of the Pasig River.

Among the famous spots to visit include the Rizal Shrine at Fort Santiago, Intramuros which houses Rizaliana items in memory of the Philippines' national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. His monument rises in Rizal Park, also known as Luneta (formerly Bagumbayan during the Spanish era), one of the largest parks in Southeast Asia. Just walking distance from the park is the 'Walled City of Intramuros". Two of the oldest stone churches of the country are situated there the San Agustin Church and the Manila Cathedral. Also in Manila is the official residence of the highest chief executive of the country, the Malacanang Palace.

The National Museum is another place to pay a visit. It is the official repository and guardian of the country's cultural, historial and natural heritage.
